Work should not be confined to the office. A new environment here and there helps restart your employees’ creativity and spark new ideas. This does not mean you should drag them to the nearest restaurant and talk over a hastily planned lunch, however.
How about a short trip where everyone gets to bond and conceptualise a new product, service or process? Here’s how to do it:
Hire a Comfortable Bus
Whether it’s a trip to a landmark in Sydney or an overnight visit out of town, you need your employees to be comfortable during the journey. This means not going for the regular cramped buses that are the cheapest option. Spending a little more for a minibus hire can go a long way in ensuring the comfort of your employees. This option isn’t even that expensive, but the difference in experience is remarkable. If you have a little more money to spare, luxury buses are also an option.
Prepare Activities and Games
While on the way, no time should be wasted. You could plan some activities on the bus to encourage interaction among employees. Games should be fun and inclusive so that high-ranking officials get a chance to mingle with rank-and-file employees. Make sure the activities do not require a lot of moving around, as that could be challenging inside a moving vehicle. Some examples are song wars, scramble and speed meeting.
Give Them Some Freedom
It’s a company event, but it’s supposed to be one to spark creativity. This means allowing your employees to roam around and not policing them every second of the trip. Talking amongst themselves freely may seem like an idle use of time for you, but for them, it’s a way to take a breath of fresh air. And sometimes that’s all they need to brainstorm new ideas that would benefit your company in the end.
