In the latest report (2014) issued by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it showed a staggering total number of emergency department visits for that year alone: 141.4 million. Nearly 30% of these visits arose from injuries, and almost 8% have resulted in hospital stays. The biggest concern here though is how only almost a third of the patients received attention from the healthcare personnel within or less than 15 minutes from their arrival.
